Tomorrow, 04Mar18, we plan to depart for the south.
The weather up until yesterday has been very nice, but when the nor'easter blew in yesterday, it reminded us why we want to head south for a few weeks. We had 12" of ice in our bay on Tuesday, yesterday the high winds broke it up and it is gone for the season.
Our anxiety stems from leaving unfinished business. We had a major flood back in January that necessitated the removal of our hardwood floors and much of the insulation and sheet rock in the basement. We have been living in our neighbor John's house since then, he passed away last March and his son is renting it too us. Since the floors were out, we decided to update our heating system to radiant floor heating, rearrange the kitchen and change a few windows on the house. Well, it has taken a long time to get it done and much of it will have to be done while we are gone. We considered canceling our trip, but decided it will just have to go on without us. My good friend Paul Salerno and his sons are doing the heating system so I have no worries there, they are doing a great job and it is nearly done. The rest of it is causing lots of angst, but I am sure it will all turn out fine.
Anyway, we are excited to get to take our maiden voyage in our 'new to us' RV, a 2016 Leisure Travel Van Serenity.
I want to rename it 'Falcon', after my 1969 Ford Falcon Sedan. June's parents gave it to us for a wedding gift in 1978. June's dad paid $375 for it, it was a beauty. I kept the logo from the car and plan to stick it on the LTV.
So, tomorrow the Falcon flies south!
How 'bout 'Millennium Falcon'!
ReplyDeleteThat is taken....
DeleteWhat the heck are you doing up at 3:45 AM. Oh, wati... I forgot who I was talking to.
DeleteWhere have you been keeping that Falcon badge!?!
ReplyDeleteMatt, it was on my wall in my office at IBM for over 30 years...my first userid at IBM was 'Falcon'.
DeleteSafe travels! - Liz
ReplyDeleteOMG! You even have your own blog! Nice...
ReplyDeleteAnxiety, what anxiety? It will all disappear when we are on the road, "flying" south with the geese. Packing a new camper was a challenge but I think everything has a place. Love the extra space and bigger fridge. Stay tuned. :)
