Day 1, Launch

We are leaving today after having breakfast with my parents in Port Henry.  It is about 35F and snowing.....time to go.

We left Foote's diner in Port Henry about 09:45 after having breakfast with Mom, Dad and bro Don (#2).  Foote's is about the best place in the world for breakfast...just saying...try it.  Our first stop was Hudson Falls, NY, we wanted to just pop in and say hi to June's Cousin Keith and his wife, Deb.  We planned a 15 mins stop because we wanted a peek at their new Pleasureway class B RV.  Well, that took about 2 hours...amazing how fast the time goes by when you are chatting.  Their new RV is beautiful and modern with state of the art Lithium batteries and solar.  I am sure they are going to enjoy it immensely.  When we got to Hudson Falls, June notice we had a soft tire in the back.  There is a long story I won't get into about owning a vehicle with dual wheels. I will just say the industry needs to get their act together.  Anyway the Pattisons gave us directions to the closest gas station and we got air and were on our way without too much trouble. The traffic was average but the winds were pretty strong and at first I thought I had a tire going down again, but after checking, realized it was just the wind.  This time of year, without foliage on the trees, it is hard to judge the strength of the wind until you step outside.

From Hudson Falls we drove to our friends Doug and Kay's in New Hope, PA. They were hit with the recent wind storms and were still without power.  So we got there about time for dinner and we went out to one of their favorite restaurants, Porterhouse in Peddler's Village. We had a great time catching up with Doug and Kay, they are always welcoming even when they are without power.

Today we will work our way south to VA to drop in on our friends Bob and Maribeth, it is great to have such good friends along the way.

  1. "Uneventful" is a good thing when you are driving. Catching up with Doug and Kay was fun, they maintained a good attitude even in the face of adversity. Too bad Fred didn't take a picture of their driveway....steep and narrow. My eyes were closed when he backed all the way up it (of course). Moving on....
